The Model 12 is a compact, all-in-one integrated mixing and recording solution designed for music and multimedia creators, songwriters, and performers. It features a 10-input mixer, a 12-track version of Tascam’s highly acclaimed multitrack audio recorder, a built-in USB audio interface, MIDI connectivity, and DAW control functionality. Unique podcasting features, including mix-minus and smartphone input, make the Model 12 equally powerful for live streaming and podcast production.

The Model 12 features an intuitive internal 12-track recorder that captures high-quality WAV files at up to 24-bit/48 kHz directly to an SD card. Up to ten tracks can be played back simultaneously. With support for a metronome, punch-in/out, and overdubbing, the recorder is well suited for efficient multitrack production. It also allows WAV files to be imported from other Tascam Model Series mixers, including the Model 12, Model 16, and Model 24. Finished tracks can be exported as WAV files and imported directly into a DAW for further editing or production.

A USB connector enables easy connection between the Model 12 and a computer for playback and recording with a wide range of popular DAWs. Audio can be recorded in a DAW to create precise, original tracks, then played back during live performances using the Model 12 alone. The USB audio interface can operate simultaneously with the built-in multitrack recorder for flexible workflows. The Model 12 also supports class-compliant mode and can be connected to Apple iOS devices using an optional adapter.

Basic external DAW control using HUI/MCU protocol emulation is built in, providing tactile control of most major DAWs. Controllable parameters include faders, mutes, pans, solos, record arm, transport functions (play, record, stop, fast-forward and rewind), and jog control.

Standard MIDI input and output enable seamless integration of keyboards, drum machines, controllers, and other MIDI-equipped devices with the Model 12. MIDI connectivity also allows playback start commands to be triggered and enables synchronization with external multitrack recorders and other MIDI devices.

The Model 12 incorporates a range of features designed for podcasting and internet streaming, including mix-minus, smartphone input, Bluetooth pairing, multiple mic-ready channels, dual headphone monitoring, and internal multitrack recording. Together, these capabilities make the Model 12 a versatile solution for live production, USB audio interfacing, and live streaming.

The Model 12’s seamlessly integrated workflow lets users focus less on technical setup and more on creativity. The built-in multitrack recorder enables simple one-button recording and playback, while the familiar feel of 60 mm faders, one-knob compressors, three-band EQs, and high-quality Tascam effects allows for fast, intuitive shaping of mixes and tones.

Connect the Model 12 to a PC or Mac via USB to access the Model Mixer Settings Panel app and utilize a digital meter bridge. The app allows monitoring of input, multitrack, or USB signals, with adjustable peak hold times for precise level control. The window can be freely scaled to suit your workflow, and for an enhanced experience, the app can be displayed on a separate monitor.
