The D3V is a fully active desktop monitoring system designed for songwriters, producers, and music enthusiasts seeking the renowned ADAM Audio sound quality with maximum convenience. The monitors feature ADAM Audio’s signature golden ribbon tweeter, embodying the brand’s German industrial design heritage.

Each pair includes 3.5” aluminium woofers with ferrite magnet systems powered by 80 W amplifiers, complemented by dual-sided passive radiators to extend bass response down to 45 Hz. With 25 years of experience in ribbon tweeter technology, ADAM Audio has developed the compact 1.5” D-ART (Desktop Accelerated Ribbon Tweeter), delivering precise, fatigue-free high frequencies. The D3V’s USB-C input allows it to function as a digital output device, eliminating the need for an audio interface, and supporting high-quality audio on mobile devices without compression.

It also features balanced ¼” TRS inputs for traditional analogue use, while user-friendly switches on the backplate help tackle common acoustical issues. The front panel provides a headphone socket and a multi-function volume knob for input selection and muting. Complete with detachable stands angled at 15° and 3/8” threaded holes for mounting, the D3V offers flexibility for various setups.

Optimised with ADAM Audio’s advanced Klippel measurement system, the highly symmetrical voice coil and ferrite magnet structure effectively reduce unwanted distortions, ensuring a linear motor for the woofer. Each one-piece concave cone is crafted from thick, ridged aluminium, offering a long linear excursion range that maintains uncoloured sound even at high output levels.

The D3V features a fully active design, incorporating four individual amplifier channels and DSP-managed crossovers. The woofers are driven by 80W amplifiers, with an amplified signal delivered to the right speaker via a link cable.

With 25 years of research and development in ribbon tweeter technology, ADAM Audio has created the highly efficient 1.5” Desktop Accelerated Ribbon Tweeter (D-ART). Each diaphragm is meticulously hand-folded and glued, powered by 40W amplifiers. As with all ADAM Audio tweeters, the D-ART benefits from precise DSP-managed crossover fine-tuning for optimal performance.

The D3V utilises dual-sided passive radiators on each speaker, totalling four per system. Each radiator features a stainless-steel plate as the moving mass, supported by a specially stabilised long-stroke rubber surround for suspension. These radiators work in tandem with the main woofers to enhance the speaker's low-frequency response while also contributing to the system’s overall sound pressure level (SPL).

The D3V is ADAM Audio’s most convenient monitoring system, featuring a plug-and-play USB-C input. When connected to a computer, mobile, or tablet, the speakers function as a digital output device, eliminating the need for an external audio interface. This direct digital connection enables high-quality audio playback without the compression or conversion typically found in desktop monitors.

The backplate of the left speaker features three switches designed to address common acoustical challenges related to speaker placement. The "POSITION" switch adjusts for the speaker's fixed location in the room, while the "DESK" switch compensates for the size of the desk in front of the speaker. The "ROOM" switch accounts for the level of acoustic treatment in the environment where the system is being used.

Alongside the USB-C input, the D3V offers analogue inputs for traditional audio applications. These allow balanced connections to audio interfaces and direct connections to various hardware, such as synthesizers, drum machines, samplers, and DJ mixers. The input source, whether USB-C or balanced analogue, can be switched by pressing the volume knob on the left speaker.

Functionality and convenience were key considerations in the design of the D3V. The front-facing headphone output automatically overrides speaker playback when in use, and the system includes detachable monitor stands angled at 15°. Both monitors also feature a standard 3/8” threaded hole on the underside for easy microphone stand mounting.

The D3V’s cabinet is constructed from high-quality injection-moulded ABS Polycarbonate, featuring thick walls and ample bracing to minimise vibrations and unwanted resonances. Its rounded shape helps to reduce sound diffraction at high frequencies, while also reflecting ADAM Audio’s rich industrial design heritage.
